When Does Fasting Really Begin and What Is Really In You?

Posted by: Bishop Shammah Womack-El in Untagged  on Print PDF

Did you know just because you eliminated somethings out of your regular diet fasting didn't begin nor did it really start. You just went on a modified diet that's all. Well it is a good start for many. Fasting technically commences within the first twelve to twenty-four hours of the fast when there is no food in the body at all. A fast does not chemically begin until the carbohydrate stores in the body begin to be used as an energy source. The fast will continue as long as fat and carbohydrate stores are used for energy, as opposed to protein stores. Once protein stores begin to be depleted for energy (resulting in loss of muscle mass) a person is technically starving. The benefits of fasting must be preceded by a look at the body's progression when deprived of food. Due to the lack of incoming energy, the body must turn to its own resources, a function called autolysis. Autolysis is the breaking down of fat stores in the body in order to produce energy. The liver is in charge of converting the fats into a chemical called a ketone body, "the metabolic substances acetoacetic acid and beta-hydroxybutyric acid", and then distributing these bodies throughout the body via the blood stream. "When this fat utilization occurs, free fatty acids are released into the blood stream and are used by the liver for energy." The less one eats, the more the body turns to these stored fats and creates these ketone bodies, the accumulation of which is referred to as ketosis. Detoxification is the foremost argument presented by advocates of fasting. "Detoxification is a normal body process of eliminating or neutralizing toxins through the colon, liver, kidneys, lungs, lymph glands, and skin.". This process is precipitated by fasting because when food is no longer entering the body, the body turns to fat reserves for energy. "Human fat is valued at 3,500 calories per pound," a number that would lead one to believe that surviving on one pound of fat every day would provide a body with enough energy to function normally. These fat reserves were created when excess glucose and carbohydrates were not used for energy or growth, not excreted, and therefore converted into fat. When the fat reserves are used for energy during a fast, it releases the chemicals from the fatty acids into the system which are then eliminated through the aforementioned organs. Chemicals not found in food but absorbed from one's environment, such as DDT, are also stored in fat reserves that may be released during a fast. One fasting advocate tested his own urine, feces and sweat during an extended fast and found traces of DDT in each. Wow! I wonder if you were on a real fast what would come out of you or better yet what is still in you? Are you ready to go to the next level in the Fasting Revival?

Fasting Revival
written by Darlene Thomas-El, January 31, 2010
This Fasting Revival has quickened my spirit. My desire to get to know God is stronger than ever. I am shedding myself of the foods that are of no nutritional value, that has been robbing me of the Life force within. I am vibrating towards foods of light-life-high frequency and vibrating to sustain my energy. I FEEL GREAT. I went to bed 4:00 this morning, awaken at 8:00 and was surprised because I didn't fell sluggish or tired. I even said to myself, "I feel good". I see that there are things in my life that I can do without. I'm with you, going to another place in God. I appreciate you and all that you do to help us be better. Peace.

BISHOP, THE HUMAN PART OF US WILL FALTER FROM TIME TO TIME - WE HURT, WE ARE TOSSED TO AND FRO, WE ARE KNOCKED DOWN - BUT, IF WE LISTEN, THE HOLY SPIRIT WILL BRING BACK TO OUR REMEMBRANCE WHY WE NEED TO GET BACK UP AND KEEP ON MOVING TOWARD OUR PURPOSE AND WE ARE NOT FIGHTING A CARNAL BATTLE - THIS BATTLE IS NOT OUR'S BUT JEHOVAH NISSE - THE LORD OUR BANNER, OUR GOD ON THE BATTLEFIELD HAS US COVERED. GET BACK UP AGAIN AND MOVE TOWARD THE MARK OF THE HIGH CALLING IN JESUS CHRIST. THE IMPORTANT THING IS NOT TO GIVE UP! WE MAKE OUR JOURNEY HARD BECAUSE WE LET FLESH TAKE A PEEK INSIDE AND THUS, WE GET KNOCKED OFF OUR FEET. WHEN WE STAY IN SPIRIT, WE ARE COVERED COMPLETELY.

THANK YOU BISHOP FOR YOUR ENCOURAGING WORDS WHICH BRINGS US BACK TO SPIRITUAL REALITY.

It is about 6:10 p.m. and I just heard your audio tweets. I will be at the gym at 8:30 p.m. I had back to back meetings today and I didnt' even check the blog or tweets until now. I never thought I would say this but I am looking forward to working out! LOL In the past, when I have been exhausted from work I would not want to exercise. Now, I want to exercise. I find that I rest soooo much better. I wake up rested. It appears I am developing a new habit. Also, I am excited to see the comments from others who are part of the fasting revival. Many blessings.
Amazing

Wow Bishop! I just read this blog entry and it is amazing. I thought I understood the process enough about intake and output and how your output/activity has to be enough to use all of the input, and so forth... but I had not really considered the major impact of fasting in the whole thing. This is powerful information; thank you for sharing it!

May you be blessed greatly Bishop, and also, welcome back from the good work you were doing in Haiti!

Thank you bishop for your wisdom and insite. I am so grateful for the opportunity to listen and learn. I have lost inches around my core area and I'v been trying to work on that for years after having my last baby. It's been amazing!! Oh! the bath salt is amazing also! I was so relaxed that I was almost late for work. This was just the regular healing salt, I can only imagine what it's going to be like when you create one according to our body types!! Wow! My mood and attitude has been so much better while on this moderate fast!! The God In You is Amazing! Thank You for Sharing Your Gift with us.....I am so encouraged!!! I can't begin to thank you enough!!!!

For saving my life... my physical life and my spiritual life. I've added years back to my life through your instructions, mentorship and teaching. There is so much that's in my heart but I feel as if I don't have adequate words to express myself. Bishop, first of all I really and truly appreciate you and your wife. You sacrifice your time to pour out to God's people and Lady Womack-El is so gracious in sharing you with us, always encouraging and under gurding you... a true example of a virtuous woman!

That's why it aggrivates me to no end when you have to plead with people to show some common courtesy. You are not asking anything outrageous or being unreasonable in your requests. The sad part about all of this is if you were to put a price on the service you are rendering, very few of us would be able to pay the price. But thanks be to the Father, you have a heart after him and your desire is for His people to be free from the bondage of sin! Yes sin... our bodies and our lives have manifested and bear witness of our sins: obesity, bad attitudes, strife within the family, no self control, speaking death instead of life... the list goes on and on. And the majority our dis-eases can be traced back to that orifice called mouth; what we put in and what we let out. I feel like I'm rambling but the the bottom line is this: Bishop, I truly understand the worth in all that you are "giving" to us. WHEN my financial situation becomes stronger, so will my giving. I've been out of full time work since August 16th but the Father has met all my needs as well as some wants. I said all that to let you know that I've sacrificed financially because I do know and realize the worth in what you are imparting to us. My spirit, body and soul thank you for making us better and wiser in the things of God. I love you, Lady Womack-El and my sisters and brothers of the Temple of Radiant Light!

Your student and sister,
Leatha

The fast has been a wonderful experience for me. It has shown me how much I depended on food to comfort my emotional experiences. Thank You so much Bishop.

Bishop,

GOD has gifted us with a rare treasure in the form of you. The light of His glory is radiant in you. You are a beautiful soul, who simply wants GOD's people to taste of the bountifulness with you've been graced. Many are called, but few choose to be chosen. But man of GOD, know this, someone hears you, someone chooses better because of you, ...and to the one(s) you reach, to the ones who will hear and heed your call, your labor certainly is not in vain.

Bishop – Thank you for breaking down what actually happens chemically during a fast. This scientific knowledge along with the spiritual knowledge you dispense is a valuable prize indeed.
Thanks You So Very Much

I just received my class and score today and look forward to joining you on with this fast. Very honored to be apart of the program.

Very sad at the behavior on the call this evening, that normally happens when there is no seed/payment required. I thank God for the training I received years ago under Bishop Jordan - Spiritual Protocol makes all the difference in the world. And although you may not have required a seed or payment I will be sowing into the temple often. Thank you and bless you, your family and ministry many times over.

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you I appreciate the wisdom that you share. I have learned a great deal of information that can be applied NOW. I can tell a difference and can not wait to see what we will be doing next week. The call this evening proved that many dial in to the call but are not listening and these are the ones who may say the program did or is not working. Thank you for allowing the line to be open for comments, many calls will not do that. Blessings to you and your family.

I read this scripture and it reminded me of one of the earlier blogtalk radio broadcasts about breathing. You were talking about how we breathe too shallow and how proper breathing can increase health in organs and your overall body.

This scripture from Psalm 33:6 says, "By the word of the Lord the heavens were made, and all the host of them by the breath of his mouth." We have spoken about being still and focusing on your breath, the essence of God. We also talk a lot about creating with our words. I just thought it was interesting to see in scripture how even breath has creative energy and ability. I wonder what I have yet to create simply because I have been breathing improperly. Better yet, I wonder what I will create by breathing properly.

You can definitely do the sauerkraut that I recommend in the book How to Fast at Last. Actually it's a great experience to make it yourself.

QUESTION: Bishop, you instructed Class A to use the store bought "live" sauerkraut. Can we use your recipe for pink sauerkraut and just eliminate the red cabbage if we want to experiment at home?

I didn't have a mortar and pestle at the time I initally wanted to make it AND before I knew the pink sauerkraut was only for class C.

Now, that I can still eat "live" sauerkraut while the homemade sauerkraut is fermenting for a week, it seems like a win-win. I would like to see how it turns out if I make it myself.

I know this is a simple question but you always seem to have a reason for everything you instruct or don't instruct us to do...maybe the homemade sauerkraut wouldn't be as fermented as the store bought for those of us in Class A...

The bread I read and meditate on helps me, refreshes me and enlightens me more than ever before. It is so true, that without prayer and the word, you are just on a diet.

I was so blessed by the holistic health class last night. I have been working on a project but AT THE WRONG TIME! That was an eye opener. Overall this has been and will continue to be an absolute blessing.

Bishop, thanks so much for your daily tips. Following your pearls of wisdom helps to make our fasting experience so much more than a modified diet, but rather a launching pad for true spiritual growth. ...And the timing for me could not have been more excellent smilies/wink.gif. P.S. CBMU classes/Revival phone conference sessions have been dynamite and electrifying! GOD in you is awesome!
Bishop Womack-El, January 26, 2010
A spiritual fast involves abstaining from food while focusing on prayer. This can mean refraining from snacks between meals, skipping one or two meals a day, abstaining only from certain foods, or a total fast from all food for an entire day or longer.

For medical reasons, some people may not be able to fast from food altogether. They may choose to abstain only from certain foods, like sugar or chocolate, or from something other than food. In truth, believers can fast from anything. Doing without something temporarily, such as television or soda, as a way of redirecting our focus from earthly things toward God, can also be considered a spiritual fast.

smilies/cheesy.gif Bless you Bishop for the valuable knowledge you are releasing! Each time before that I have found useful information in this area, it has always been from someone of another race! You are a blessing! Because you are using Our Father's word as the basis for all you are doing, it puts you several "cuts above" all the rest! I don't have a weight challenge, but, I do want to learn how to be as healthy as I can be. I applaud you, continue being a blessing. I am ready to go as far on the fast as you know is best! Bless you!

I knew it! This was just a warm-up to prepare some of us for the real fast. You're a wise man Bishop. I'll wait for instructions. The modified fast, thus far, has been doing wonders for me spiritually. I have been consciously practicing what you taught on December 31st; stay in the present and don't focus on the past or future. I feel more and more at peace. I feel good in my spirit. Do you know what I mean? I agree with the audio tweet about t.v. I have noticed a difference in not using t.v. to unwind. It really doesn't relax you anyway, it just distracts. I'm not saying t.v. is horrible, but it does need to be used less and less.

Wow, Bishop, what a wonderful mini refresher course in metabolism that blog was for me. I'd forgotten alot of that info from my medical studies in dental school. Goodness me, what must be inside of me?! Well, Bishop, let's step it up a notch smilies/wink.gif.

P.S. I said it before, and I'll say it again. I was soooooo grateful to GOD to see you walk safely through the door yesterday afternoon upon your return from Haiti. GOD is sooooo awesome. Thank You Father GOD!
