Why Is Love So Painful? Part Two

Posted by: Bishop Shammah Womack-El in Untagged  on Print PDF

Fasting will reveal the truth of yourself if you really want to see yourself. There is a purpose for everything even pain. question is do you really want to know the answer? Well here it is part two about Love. Love is painful, because it creates the way for bliss. Love is painful because it transforms; love is mutation. Each transformation is going to be painful because the old has to be left for the new. The old is familiar, secure, safe, the new is absolutely unknown. You will be moving in an uncharted ocean. You cannot use your mind with the new; with the old, the mind is skillful. The mind can function only with the old; with the new, the mind is utterly useless. Hence, fear arises, and leaving the old, comfortable, safe world, the world of convenience, pain arises. It is the same pain that the child feels when he comes out of the womb of the mother. It is the same pain that the bird feels when he comes out of the egg. It is the same pain that the bird will feel when he will try for the first time to be on the wing. The fear of the unknown, and the security of the known, the insecurity of the unknown, the unpredictability of the unknown, makes one very much frightened. And because the transformation is going to be from the self towards a state of no-self, agony is very deep. But you Cannot have ecstasy without going through agony. If the gold wants to be purified, it has to pass through fire.Love is that fire but, a healing fire, even though it's not your desire.Desire means De-of, Sire-father. God Is A Consuming Fire for purification.

Love is not like a novel that starts at a certain point and ends at a certain point. It is an ongoing phenomenon. Lovers end, love continues– it is a continuum. It is a verb, not a noun. While you are fasting learn to LOVE YOURSELF!

Bishop, as you once told me, being alone is simply being ALL-ONE...when that someone is in HIM.

I love that. Aloneness is our very nature. It is not loneliness. It is being all one. I don't want to be a stranger to myself. I am discovering traits that I like and don't like about me. But what is different on this fast is that I still love me. I'm not beating myself up with negativity. I'm saying okay, that's not cool, let me renew my mind in that area and move on. Your teaching about personalities showed me that I do have a natural tendency to hold things. So, I have to just let it go and keep moving. And doing so is so peaceful!! I only hold onto that which is beneficial. This is a transformational time and I am so thankful for it.

It is a great gift to be alone with self, as you said on BTR many times we seek things to fill the quiet so we can not hear the truth of self. Somethings may look unpleasant but once our vision is corrected by loves purification we can see the big picture. Thanks for the window cleaner Bishop I had a few spots blocking my view. Many Blessings to you.

Just like Jesus, when he has led into the wilderness, to be tempted by the devil, he was fasting alone. He was also dying alone of the dictates of the flesh. We must be alone with ourselves to die one way or another. We are born alone, we live alone, and we die alone. Aloneness is our very nature, but we are not aware of it. Because we are not aware of it, we remain strangers to ourselves, and instead of seeing our aloneness as a tremendous beauty and bliss, silence and peace, at-easeness with existence, we misunderstand it as loneliness.
